Takes Hold

Takes Hold

Hooked on a love of music,
a love hook struck, a pierced imagination,
poured out onto the caustic pavement
of feelings and ideas; dreams where
the life of the heart, our guts
and all manner of adversity, alive
in the folly of love, engulfed in one of its
multitudinous facets, embraces
an absolute joy, shredded for us
who chance to catch a thread;
populating the senses to that
point where wrenching need,
moored desire stretching its
elastic bonds to breaking and rampant
want find favor in the hidden crawl-
space where Soul abides, darkly…
unbidden, arising as a fog, bathing
wounded aching hearts, voicing
aloud to all that writhing
vineyard-traffic that the vine
is tethered to an anchor point,
supporting the musical excursion,
that trims the melody, emboldens
chromous chords, lighting
the lyrical motifs, as words
create the harbor where our
grappling catch takes hold,
unabashed in its embrace.
