Take Me To the Confessional - Haha Not Really It's More of the Same Old

As a confessional portrait poet I see myself through my own lens Getting really into 'if I feel it, show it' Risk appearing a right misery to poet friends If I carefully conducted a survey Ignoring any anomalous score What would be contained in resulting communiqué Perhaps it's true I am a chore But if I scour the current ad hoc data Analyse the feedback sheet Very few people say "yeah I hate ya" I'm quite liked by the people I meet IRL I don't drone on about poor me Or tell of woes a mile a minute At parties and in person I'm relaxed and free Demonstrating joy and wit But poetry fulfills a need It's the quiet listening ear To help internal narrative not succeed Help shed my cloak of fear I'll try and bring my happy vibe Display my sense of fun Avoid depressing the poet tribe Since my healing has begun *I'll be exactly the same *this doesn't contain hidden meaning

I quite enjoyed your confessional poetry on poetry. Your 5th stanza encapsulates it all. My poems are little gravestones where I've laid my nagging thoughts. I come and lay flowers for each entombed sentiment as you do. And yes, you are quite liked by the people you meet.

I wrote it as a half apology for potentially getting on people's nerves writing about myself so much but of course those people already left and those remaining have a reasonable tolerance for my mix of poetry/not poetry. Thanks for your kind words :)
