Hi Gershon, I enjoyed your poem. This brought back a memory of my dad. He would watch the game on TV and have two radios on. (LOL) He said he did not want to miss a word of any play. He was a big sports fan. Well written. Blessings ~ Debra

Your dad had TWO radios on listening to (and watching) the ballgame? Wow! What a super-fan! Impressive! Buy him TWO boxes of crackerjacks! ~ Fun at the Ballpark, gw

I'm often on poetry soup in our office at home and listen to the dialogue of a film Hubby is watching, they say women multi-function, guess we do, can write a poem and tell you the plot of a movie, but you are right Gershon, when it comes to sports they re-plat it and re-play it constantly. Blessings and hugs Jennifer.

And how many times did we play announcer and team as we broadcast the ninth inning while we threw a ball against a wall or smacked rocks with a stick...IT'S HIGH....IT'S DEEP.....IT'S GONE.....ANDTHE CROWD ROARS....

I have almost completely stopped watching sports on television, gw. I simply cannot stand those replays. Can't tell whether they're really playing or whether it's a replay...or a re-play of a replay! Just label me old and crotchety!

Can't even go to a game either, Milt, what with those ubiquitous screens in the stadium broadcasting those same replays over and over again. Phooey. ~ Curmudgeonry lives!

A good radio announcer finds the right balance of describing the play and letting the imagination fill in the blanks. There have been times I've turned off the TV just to listen to a great radio commentator. Usually the World Series has a great radio team. I enjoyed your write, GW ~ Harry Caray

Kudos to you John for turning off that tube, letting your imagination run free... It's a bit easier for me to listen to radio broadcasts, as I threw away my TV in 1987. Haven't regretted it one bit. 'Somehow,' I've survived. lol. Cheers, Gershon

Hopefully we get through this lock-out, if not none of us will be imagining any air-wave rules (lol). Anything to do with baseball is sure to catch my eye. Believe it or not, Gershon...at age 62 I still play fast-pitch baseball with my son and grandson.

Charlie, Wow! You still play fast-pitch baseball with kids! Double-wow. I can't even make a 'fast-pitch' to my kids to clear the table or wash the dishes! ~ Downhill Racer
