Take Down This Book
Take Down This Book
Time goes by and quickly things must change.
All that was is different, new or gone.
Keepsakes bring back memories so strange.
Events and people now for whom we long.
Detailed on the pages of a printed book,
our words express the muse of human thought.
wisdom that makes a reader stop and look
noticing the magic that is caught.
Tennbyson, Yeats, and Dickinson were three
heroes in the classic world of poems.
Iambic meter here and there you see
sustaining rhythm and contouring forms.
Buy this book and highly value what you've found.
Open it and sift so softly through.
Old or new there’s nothing like the sound
known by human ears as poetry that's true.
“When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,”
