T-Day and Counting

Turkey Days are often fraught With tensions and with stress. The harmony that’s always sought Could end in quite a mess. The fantasy of family fun, With everyone on board, Exists until the day’s begin And someone feels ignored… Or overworked or pushed aside Or simply out of sorts And then those feelings have to hide; It’s time to watch some sports. Yet dinner somehow will get served And all will sit to eat, The conversations gently swerved, Avoiding any heat. Desserts will come and with them, smiles; Then clean-up and, I guess, Another T-Day for the files, Considered a success.

The newest chapter in your 'Book of Life,' Ilene: 'The T-Day Files.' I imagine the public will be gobbling up the first million copies. Smiles, Gershon

ha. yes, they can be a catasrophe but actually I think all of OUR thanksgivings have turned out with little tension. The best thing is just everyone go to a buffet that day. it eliminates cooking and cleaning up. Nice poem, Ilene.

You deserve a gold medal for this succinct depiction of millions of American households on turkey day! I'll be eating half a rotissory chicken with a few of the fixins and my own homemade whole cranberry sauce with mandarin oranges and walnuts, fresh homemade biscuits and a glass of New Zealand Oyster Bay Chardonnay. For dessert? Chocolate pudding with fresh raspberries and topped with a dollop of mildly sweetened Ricotta cheese. / Maurice
