Snow is drifting; sugar-like are its crystals falling on my tongue, but dissolving swiftly - neither taffy-sticky nor toffee crunchy; Eye-candy softness. Twirling in the rosy pink sky of twilight - cotton candy clouds are the heaven’s sweetness. Night is falling. Silver becomes the skyscape. Whiteness is tumbling. Moon’s glow shows me mounds of a deeper snowfall. Almond Joy now springs to my mind, but greater comes the cheer my innermost child is feeling. Winter brings Christmas.

Great concluding thought, Andrea. Christmas is indeed the brightest spot in winter for many. When snow and Christmas are combined, especially. Congratulations on your placement. Sapphic stanza is a difficult form to pull off with so many variations in accent possible.

love this, particularly the first two stanzas - it's free verse in sapphic stanza form! lol should do well in the contest...thanks for my placement in your contest, glad you liked, i wasn't expecting a 1st place after what you said about laziness of using the title word lol

Winter is not pleasant, though we have no snow. Yet your poem makes us feel delight. So well written. And I love Christmas. Let's hope it won't rain.

Winter, the dull season is made very sweet by your treatment of the season. Yes, the greatest attraction is that it heralds Christmas. A sweet poem.

One of the things I'll miss living in Phoenix. It reminds me of being in love with a thing, the snow.

It rendered a festive energy that surpass the holiday, laying the climate of winter jolly and culminating in the pensive and meditative time with family and friends. I truly love Christmas, with the sharing, laughing and Christ centered joy. Thks for bringing home our focus with this sweet piece.

Dear Andrea, what a delightful sensory journey through a winter landscape. The playful candy metaphors create a whimsical atmosphere, evoking childhood wonder in me. I think your use of short, precise lines captures the crisp beauty of winter, while the progression from day to night adds so much depth. It is all about the upcoming holidays! YEAH! Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

I do love it to snow at Christmas, the last White Christmas we had in London was many years ago.

Visions of snow especially the first snow, brings forth beautiful scenery and memories of Christmases enjoyed in the past. When reading this Poem Andrea it brought me back to so many wonderful moments I experienced relating to snow. Thanks for the memories as they say and thank you so much for sharing...

The first snow always dives into childhood memories of the beauty of winter, the anticipation of Christmas, the beauty and happiness it brings, from Christmas carols to sweets and the delight of receiving presents, all connected to experiencing snow. Of course, here in Australia, we don’t have white Christmases and snow in only certain parts during our upside-down winter climate, even though our Christmas decorations reflect white Christmases. Hugs Maria

"but better comes the gladness my inner child is feeling. Winter brings Christmas." My favorite time of year also. Blessings. Never too early for Christ.
