Sweet Vagabond Imaginings

“Green-eyed lady passion lady
Dressed in love she lives for life to be” Sugarloaf

Not wise when very young, I traipsed inside
romantic notions where I played the role
of some young, handsome man’s sweetheart or bride.
Real life I did not know; I had the goal
but not the plan for my achieving it!
How aimlessly I wandered in my dreams -
where roses blossomed! Lacking any grit,
I stumbled into marriage, and it seems
my hopes then vanished, for no more was I
the “green-eyed lady” of the seventies
who listened to her 45’s piled high
yet never took the proper steps to seize
what always she had been daydreaming of -
sweet vagabond imaginings of love.

I remember my stacks of 45s. That was good music. I stumbled into marriage, too:) Thank you for taking me back in your lovely poem.

Dreams of youth - of what might have - without an inclination of the reality of marriage. So many go back to that idealization so often and never move on! Very nicely done Andrea! Congratlations on your win dear friend.

Lovely lines, Andrea. My, my in the seventies I was in my forties! So, those "vagabond imaginings of love" were far behind me. Good writing! Then, I met Deborah!

Such are the vagabond dreams! Yet, path taken is just as rewarding--I assume. Well articulated, Andrea.
