Sweet Tears of Sorrow

SWEET TEARS of SORROW Sweet tears of sorrow streaming down, I feel your warm embrace. Falling as you break the strings that hold my heart in place. Why do some dreams wander aimlessly, like a beggar with no home. Then wash up on a lifeless shore to fade...and lie alone. Hopes that come from a lonely heart depend on fortune's empty call. Never able to receive God's peace, left to live in dead Heaven's pall. Francis J Grasso 06.24.2016

francis, that is cool that you love to live on the edge of controversy. I 'm kiind of that way too. I went back into that poem of mine you liked, the one you said made you cry, and I put back the pictures. I just hope they STAY this time. I wonder if maybe Soup takes them out after they have been a few months scrolling down to oblivion?? Here is the link if you want to see my pics on the poem:http://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/if_this_is_my_last_poem_704466

I really like this, Francis. Especially the first two stanzas. Since heaven is seen by many as a place of new life, I am curious why you used the word heaven for someone who cannot find peace.Anyway, you really get across the sadness of this person.

but the last two lines of the third stanza are stronger than they need to be. I also think those two lines expose the poem to some controversy that was never intended. Although I believe poems should be controversial when the subject matter dictates it...I was born on the edge of controversy! I really appreciate you taking time to critique my work...and I really love reading your beautiful work.

I wanted the poem to depict sorrow from the bottom looking up. When grief has drained the last bit of faith from a soul. When no hope ever again is seen . I considered using a lower case 'h' in the word 'Heaven' giving it a more metaphoric meaning, but didn't. I agree the first two stanzas came out fairly well - thank you!...
