I remember when I was young, On the wall a window was hung, And how when I'd look through, I could see all of Glasgow Avenue. Too young to go out and play, At the window I'd stay. Sunshine, and everything was fine! The whole day was mine. A child who's only three Needs somewhere to be! Imaginary friends befriend. On them a child depends. Looking through sunshine's window, I'd watch all the people go. I'd play in the sunlight- Oh, what a delight! I remember when I was three; There was no place I'd rather be, Than standing at the window, looking through, Down on Glasgow Avenue.

There is a lovely delightfulness to this delicate poem, Evelyn. Your inner child is dancing.

Thank you so much for saying so, Caren. Your comments bring me joy! The child in the poem was me, in the St. Louis apartment where my first memories were made. I did have an imaginary friend named Rita, and our windows did indeed look out on Glasgow Avenue. Those days were filled with sunshine. Thanks again for sharing!
