Sunset Lullaby
As I lie on a blanket in my special place
far from other members of the human race,
a gentle wind dries my tear-stained face.
The troubles that have occupied my mind
and jangled my nerves fade as I unwind.
I smile as I feel welcomed by many kind
creatures—chattering squirrels, silent rabbits and deer--
and soothed at sunset by the music I hear
an ethereal lullaby by birds so near.
Seeing this human drifting into sleep, they have no fear.
