Contest: Sunsets

*WINNER* Placed 1st

Listen to poem:
The golden hope Of brighter tomorrow Slides into the salty ocean No steam or bubbles Just the crimson joy of the clouds Escorting With their shifting ochre tones While fiery orange irradiates The grateful atmosphere Until slowly Ever so slowly Into the ripples of the horizon's haze The queen of the daylight Slinks Then is gone Her wispy train of colour Vanishing As the blue king of the night Claims his place And sits in the throne room Of the speckled sky

Dear friend, this is absolutely stunning! How did I miss this beauty! It’s so beautifully descriptive, visual. So artistic - painted from a true poet’s palette. Love the perfect picture too. You have captured the going down of the sun so exquisitely with wonderful use of colour, ‘ crimson joy’ ‘ fiery orange’ blue king’ ‘ speckled sky’ . The line, ‘ wispy train of colour’ is gorgeous. I can see why it won first place dear Sam. Just sorry I missed it then. This needs reposting- should be read and

Oh my, this is such a breathtakingly beautiful and mesmerizing write for the 'Sunset' contest and I'm absolutely awestruck by your delicate descriptions here. This is the first poem I'm reading of yours and I must say that I'm glad that I connected with your page.. "Into the ripples of the horizon's haze, The queen of the daylight slinks, then is gone her wispy train of colour vanishing as the blue king of the night" This part is so ethereal and enchanting! Absolutely a magical write!! :)

Hiya - thank you so much :) I am blown away that you liked it so much. High praise indeed. I do love a good sunset, and the sky too - no-one should ever walk with their head down everyday is a new landscape for the artist to paint. Blessings x
