Summer Is Out of Reach

The end of summer has come. It is time to say goodbye. And return to where we came from. Something we can not longer deny. Sunshine filled days, now a memory. Along with endless skies of blue. There were seaside sights to see. Offering so many things to do. No more kites flying overhead. Their tails dancing in the warm air. Some with their wings widespread. Their strings handled with care. There are no sandcastles on display. They have tumbled onto the sand. Built knowing they could not stay, To decorate the stretch of land. Thousands of footprints have come and gone. Left by those who walked along the beach. From a beautiful sunrise at dawn, to when the last ray of sunlight was out of reach. But when it is finally time to go, don't forget to take a bit of sumner with you. Remember basking in a sundrenched glow. And in the gloom of winter, it will shine through..

I love the descriptions and the line about thousands of footprints. I can see the images and they sure can be thought of during winter. Great poem. Well done :)

- To say goodbye to summer ... I do not like it ... autumn is wet and rainy ... winter is long, dark and cold ... I think I was born in the "wrong" country :))) - A wonderful poem, Sandra :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

You are right, long, dark and cold! Maybe this year it will less of these things. Thank you so much, Anne-Lise.
