Sultry Summer

Summer sallies in blazing hot Gentle in approach it is not Chilly Spring winds soon forgot Scorching sun off cooling soil steams Warming all the rivers and streams Melting core of soft snow dreams Songbirds practice their choral sounds Joined by grasshoppers’ leaps and bounds Insects build their own playgrounds Chirruping crickets call their mates Flowerbeds fill with garden snakes Sweltry nights no heat abates
