Our planet is such a rare place,
a blue marble spinning in space.
It hosts deserts and winds that blow
over forests, mountain peaks, grasslands,
oxbow rivers and burning sands.
Along with the rain, hail, and snow
it hosts glistening fields of ice
capping its polls not once; but twice.
And white water, whose untamed flow
cuts through gorges and canyon walls
creating magnificent falls
tumbling down to the rocks below.
Our planet is such a rare place
and it changes at its own pace.
At night the stars put on a show
as wolves and bears hunt the badlands,
and birds and snakes stock the wetlands.
From caves to the smallest grotto
bats live in the planet's bowels
accompanied by Sasquatch howls
and cockroaches eating guano.
Home is a splendiferous orb
where there is so much to absorb,
from the mega to the micro.
Earth will survive the human race,
but we've no other place to go,
but that won't always be the case.
