Gone Away

The old house looks forlorn, No one lives there today; Broken down and so torn, All souls have gone away. Through sun and rain in vain, Derelict through the years; Can you hear sad refrains, Echoes of rain borne tears? It seems like yesterday, Bubbly people lived there; Yes all have gone away, Yet we do not know where. The once proud house now stands, A shadow in decline; Watch empty times attend, Clear damage that defines. Once a certain landmark, Today mere history; A crumbling old hallmark, Forgotten memory. Today soon fades from play, A certain poise decrees; Lost in that yesterday, That everyone can see. Leon Enriquez 18 June 2018 Hamlet Place, ACT
