Sue's husband was a control freak Ted told her what to do and when to do it Right down to what and when to eat And what clothing she should wear Never letting her do anything without his permission Getting away from his demands was impossible Life for Sue was absolutely unbearable Every single movement she made was tracked by his cell phone He had a stranglehold on her very existence One day she cracked and Ted was found with fatal stab wounds Later Sue confessed to his murder Death for Ted was her only way of living Title 1 stranglehold Pick a title, vol 8 poetry contest Sponsored by Edward Ibeh 8/22/19

The last line is absolutely perfect! If you have ever had a control freak enter your family, and I have, two of them in fact, but they were divorced back out, happily enough - where was I? - You can relate to this!

To be controlled by anyone is quite shocking and such a scary thought. For your only true escape is to annialate that person, something that most could or would not be able to do. An excellent write Jan on a very sensitive subject. Good luck. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

A domineering person such as this one would certainly make life unbearable, Jan. I'm not surprised that in the end she flipped...had she been strong enough she'd have strangled him! hugs // paul

A very serious one indeed...the consequence of dominance...May this poem open the eyes of abusers...

wow, this is powerful and so true, sadly, when a woman is abused in any form, there often is no way out without the death of one of them....great write~ i could see this one unfolding! hugs

Clever write....and a reasonable explanation for an act of violence during an episode of erupting anger occasioned by having reached the limits of endurance of such treatment...…... I liked it.
