Storms Within

A loud roar from the sky announces a stormy night Artistic souls may find inspiration in the dark clouds In the rhythmic refrain of the falling rain A song may come, or a dark memory might meander through the corridors of the mind emerging in a.... haunting melody "Into each life some rain must fall" But the rain may be too heavy For tender souls to endure When they emerge from the storm they have scars that never seem to heal Sculpting their character in silent ways Emotional storms make us stronger But scars linger in dark spaces Surfacing in unpredictable ways Can you hear the haunting melody? Thunder peals, and a poet's pen hits the page Expressing thoughts in silence But within is a 'quiet storm' 9-15-19 Crossroads Poetry Contest Sponsor: Silent One

Loved the connection with rain in its falling patterns and music in it and how it evokes different emotional responses. Great poem. Lonna

Yes I would say that storms do inspire us, they certainly do me. Emotional storms do make us stronger I agree, as long as they are not one after the other, for this can lead to scars within us, you are quite right. I think you have just given me an idea for my next poem! Well penned my friend. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Excellent Joseph. A very insightful piece. The things we experience throughout life, especially in our young formative years do leave their mark and has a lot to do with the kind of people we become. And we never stop learning. Great job. A winner in my book. God Bless, JB

"Artistic souls may find inspiration in the dark clouds" This is me. Finding inspiration in the rain, moments of a storm. Sometimes emotions are deep, but- all come from the heart. You have expressed this so well my friend. ~ Brandy
