Storm of Words

A storm is upon us, howling outside The snow keeps falling and blowing today Snow sticks to the windows, as the views hide White and more white, writing block in my way I struggle to figure out what to say The snow keeps falling and blowing today The snow piles up on autumn’s decay The depth of winter unfolds all around I struggle to figure out what to say Breaking through wild weather, is a bird’s sound Calling from trees, through the white veils of snow The depth of winter unfolds all around I’m in the warmth watching scenes that I know I want to sing happy tunes like birds now Calling from trees, through the white veils of snow Thoughts are stolen from sound of the snow plow A storm is upon us, howling outside I want to sing happy tunes like birds now Snow sticks to the windows, as the views hide Heidi Sands 2/2/21

Very well done Heidi, the Terzanelle reminds me of a pantoum with the repeating lines, also a Villanelle, I enjoy the lyrical quality to your write. I can relate the winter must be getting me down, hard to write these days. Congrats on your POTD. (I know I'm a little late)

Hi John. I appreciate your kind comment and thrilled that you enjoyed this. Yes, I think the winter is getting me down too. It is very hard for me to write these past few days. I hope it gets better for us soon. Thank you :)

Hello Heidi, Loved seeing the pink bloom on the suggested poem sidebar today. The winter's cold has been tough for bird and man alike. A new pineapple express is forecast for the rain-soaked Northwest. -Richard

Suggested poem sidebar? lol...I must be really behind what everyone knows about the site! Yes, the winter's cold has been tough this winter. I just saw something about the pineapple express a few minutes before arriving here. Rain-soaked, yes. I hope all is ok and I appreciate your comment Richard :)

Hi Heidi, Congratulations my dear friend on POTD and I absolutely love this very wintry, snowy poem. I love snow but don't think I could cope with living in a country with it. We have had no summer this year, our days are rain and more rain and we have never before had such low temperatures in summer. Hugs and blessings my friend - hope you enjoyed the honor bestowed on you. Jennifer.

I watch the cold weather reports of several feet of snow on T.V. and I am very thankful I am not in the cold shoveling snow. Never the less it is beautiful to view. A very lovely Terzanelle Heidi. These are a challenge to write. Congratulations on having this wonderful poem honored with POTD my friend! Blessings xxoo

That snow can sure put a wall of white squarely in front of our happy writing instincts, blocking them quite effectively -- a real whitewash job, so to speak. This resonates with me here in Chicago too. We got 18 fresh inches on the ground in the last week. Probably nothing like NH, but for us it's a lot. Here's to chirping birds. Hope you hear them, Heidi, as soon as the sun emerges. Bravery and Strength, Gershon

Hi Gershon. Yes, I am sure you understand what the snow is like when it piles up. Today, was cold and sunny, but we sure have a lot around. I do enjoy hearing the birds. Thank you for your kind comment :)
