Stone Cold
harsh winds shaped the stony heart
a sand-etched brilliant coldness
bleeding in the silence of deceit
longing for forgotten warmth
gaunt fingers clutch at faded sun
knees bent in prayers descent
as beggars from their mansions plead
with moonlit shadows ‘mid the stones
for emptiness to fill this void
this icy, endless, haunting cold
with silence ‘neath the frozen trust
that shaped a deadened stony heart.
