Notes About The Poem

Written for the rispetto contest sponsored by Emile Pinet

Sometimes when innocence is stolen, by familiar thieves, time can never erase the scars left within. Raising awareness on abuse...

Premiere Contest WinnerStolen Innocence

I remember how the rose moon drizzled gold,
when stars within your eyes danced, flickering pearls,
curating a carnival of dreams untold~
while heavy skies unveiled tuscan truth, that twirls.
But am I to swim through syllables of grief,
for innocence was snatched by a soulless thief,
stealing soft colors of sunsets with thick sins,
as violin stringed heart sings on sharpened pins.

Dear Empress, gifted poetess, your potent golden pen spills with sad soulful eloquence with a beauty of imageries that give a vivid elegant voice to the hurt tender heart, the wounded spirit and the demeaned physical body of a victim, to testify against the heinous acts of abuse. Your last line a perpetual legacy of the pain and a deeply affecting finale. Congratulations for your poignant trophy win in Emile's contest. A well-deserved honor, sweet poetess. Warmest wishes my friend.. ~Susan

It is so sad that a child is abused and betrayed by heartless rogues... a crime that cannot be forgiven. With time, the wound may be healed, but the scar remains and continues to haunt the victim. So powerfully and beautifully penned in your inimitable style. Congratulations on your well-deserved trophy win, dear sweet Empress.

What vivid imagery, dear Ink, I can see why this won first prize; congratulations, dear.A rose moon that drizzles gold, stars within eyes that dance, curating a carnival of dreams untold. Imagine heavy skies unveiling Tuscan truth and syllables of grief, for innocence snatched by a soulless thief. This captivating scene is a testament to the power of language and the emotions it can evoke. I recently bought Emile's book on Amazon. Its called A Match in the Dark. So very good...Hugs

Dearest Inky, this poignant piece is so beautifully written and sad. The contrast between the two of before and after the abuse is so powerful. You have such a huge talent for writing in such an elegant and exquisite way dear one. You have captured so much here with the hopes and dreams of any young child - the pure innocence - and then the horrific loss of it when all is shattered and colourful skies overhead are replaced with a blackness of soulless colour. ‘snatched by a soulless thief’ and

There must be a stop to abuse in all its shapes; however, many victims continue to suffer in silence. Your rispetto poetry is an amazing depiction of the complex lives of people, capturing both the joys and sorrows, the magic and the reality of life. At the same time as it celebrates the resilience of the human spirit in the face of hardship, it invites readers to reflect on the fragility of innocence and the everlasting pain of betrayal. BOL with the contest.

It leaves us with a heavy heart, reflecting on the resilience required to navigate the aftermath of betrayal and the enduring quest for peace and healing. Cheers, Don

Abuse of any kind needs to be eradicated but sadly so many suffer in silence.. Your rispetto poem effectively captures the complexities of human experience, from moments of enchantment and joy to the harsh realities of loss and betrayal. It invites readers to reflect on the fragility of innocence and the enduring pain of betrayal, while also acknowledging the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

IE, I think your poem highlights how much damage can be done in an instant of selfishness by someone with that power to act in such a way. It's unfortunately easy for this to happen and so difficult for any recovery...which can never completely erase what happened before. This makes me stop and think about the victims and how awful this must feel.
