Stoicism is the Key

In silence, when darkness
envelopes the sky,
unlock the glass windows
of your mind,
forgive the stars
that veiled their silver,
for it is in times of
confusion and calamity,
we paint our own
rose wine twilight,
that scintillates beyond
fleeting fog of time and sanity.

Sometimes, we forget to
appreciate nature’s performance,
as life seems to be a
black gold theatre of
manipulative mantras.
We rise as actors dressed in
dancing stripes of integrity,
pirouetting like a merry-go-round
of lights, guiding our destiny.
Where melodramatic monologues
of melancholic laws
remain tucked away deep,
beneath a charismatic mattress
woven across turquoise trampolines,
of tranquil testaments and tiger lilies.

But as the curtains swiftly fly
into thin crimson layers of air,
trust the silence, for when
everything’s louder,
we find contentment in
compassionate places we encounter,
sowing seeds of love, whilst we hope;
brushing off negativity’s echoes,
to clutch onto inner healing’s rope,
and surrender to its throes.

So allow the invisible wand
of your soul that sears
to sprinkle pixie-dust upon
the backbone of cascading fears,
let your heartbeat ring
and strum every
metallic string of faith,
whilst thin veins in
throbbing waves hum,
“Kindness is the healing
stone and stoicism is the key of life”

Your writing is enticing, and definitely makes stoicism a desirable choice for a way to live. I admire those that can do it. I am too temperamental, too opinionated to manage it. I launch protest at the first sign of wrong doing or unfairness. Your contentment in the passionate places sounds wonderful Mistress, for those that can maintain it, it must be truly rewarding. Lovely poem.

"we find contentment in compassionate places we encounter, sowing seeds of love, whilst we hope; brushing off negativity’s echoes, to clutch onto inner healing’s rope, and surrender to its throes." Through these beautiful lines you have nailed what's stoicism. Filling the heart with kindness, driving away all negativity and hoping for the best..... is the essence of a stoic view of life. "Forgive the stars that veiled their silver, for it is in times of confusion and calamity, we paint our own rose wine twilight," How true and I love these lines.

A beautiful way to express your thoughts on the life of a stoic, Ink. Your words flowed smoothly, and thoughts were comforting. Few have ever thought about the life of a stoic. I like your closing quote. Life would be better for most if they chose to live such a life. Great entry for the contest, my friend. Good luck! Your poet friend in Texas, Bill

Very beautiful. You are far better than I if stoicism is mostly what you believe. I think I only have half the characteristics of a stoic person! I bet this one scores high . Thanks for your thoughtful comments on my poems, Ink.

An interesting take on Stoicism, i've not seen anyone else express it like you have.. You have a great way of building up to the theme, like your start where you set the scene... Always important in poetry... the opening lines are always the ones that grab the attention of the reader... You explain the philosophy of stoicism very well and mention all the positive points that arise from it.. there are many great lines in your poem, include metaphors as always... good luck in the contest.

I always think “ interesting” is not a good sign lolol i wrote this very quickly. In like 20 minutes. But guess i dont really try to be different sometimes my mind is a bit too hazy lol and you expect me to write a poem with no metaphors and similes that will be the hardest contest ill ever be trying . Lord have mercy. Thank u so much for your sweet support dear
