Step Back

Step back to move forward, Step back to appreciate, Step back to see the big picture, Step back to avoid the precipice. Step back stay in good health, Step back before you lose all your wealth, Step back before you become addicted, Step back before your tongue runs away with you. Step back to collect your thoughts, Step back when the law requires it, Step back from a toxic relationship, Step back from the middle of the road. Step back in time at your own risk.

As a youth l never did 'step back' so l never moved forward. Time only woken up for me when l got much older , so now l see the bigger picture. l have to now stop myself from 'step back in time' or time stops again for me.. sorry cant explain what l mean, but l understood your poem, really food for thought to me.Jackie

I wondered about what people would get from this poem. I am semi retired so I have time to look at things from more distance. My life as been fortunate in respect that I have taken steps back at key times. I got involved with no limit poker when young but stepped back when I was even. I sometimes feel I feel I have a guardian angel with the number of times I have stepped back from danger. I have also just about managed to keep one foot in the present.
