Stay Awhile
Marie’s kind and gentle spirit was called by death,
eating away, wasting her earthly form.
Still, her husband could bring a twinkle to her eye.
For life, sweet life and him, she’d try and stay awhile.
Eating away, wasting, her earthly form,
death could not take her love from him.
For life, sweet life, and him, she’d try and stay awhile.
She prayed to see her face once more in his eyes.
Death could not take her love from him.
Dear husband, companion, rare soul mate,
she prayed to see her face once more in his eyes,
the bride she’d been, the wife she’d always be.
Dear husband, companion, rare soul mate,
he felt her slipping through the hands of time.
The bride she’d been, the wife she’d always be,
would she soon lie with lilies white and fair as she?
He felt her slipping through the hands of time.
Still, her husband could bring a twinkle to her eye.
Would she soon lie with lilies white and fair as she ?
Marie’s kind and gentle spirit was called by death.
