reflections of water shadow ripples they draw you in make you want to leap in find a portal for something to change whether that's fundamentally or you just rest from the weight of all this but I've not leapt nor do I rest tonight because stars stretch on the sea darkness swallows and I need to witness what I can every swirl of a cloud important a treasure map I can't take my eyes off somewhere the sun comes up I should navigate there but I close my eyes open them and find again the night speckled with beauty but devoid of landmarks I should declare myself lost oh to meander in that idea of rescue save me from the night I lost my way

Wow this is absolutely stunning dd, the imagery and flow of your well articulated lines here is impeccable! I absolutely loved every line in this. Did you write this for the picture? So creative. A fave for me this is. Congratulations on your win

Hi, yes it's an ekphrasis but I've labelled the form on this occasion. Thank you for your kind words x

You have a way of ' feeling' the painting. You don't describe it, you feel it. Its a dark morose picture, but you give it life. You see shadows and ripples and the reflection of stars stretching on the sea. You endear me to a painting that without you, I would not have liked. You become the voice of the artist. A beautiful and rare talent my friend. I thank you. SV

You are kind and wonderful - thank you for this sweet comment. It's all true of course (unless someone decides to tell me otherwise) because I've just written another. I keep forgetting I need to describe woodchip wallpaper for you to really measure if I've got any skill :)

There is a beauty in being lost. It requires time. Of course, there is always gps. Oh well. I don't think that was where you were going.

I've written about the beauty of having time to be lost a few times. Without pressure (or danger) being lost can be quite beautiful. There's no GPS for finding the morning when in the long night if course, but it always does come around on its own. Thank you for your comment, always feel free to share your own interpretation x

i like the flowing feel of this, allows the mind to more eagerly mold the imagery - well expressed

Thanks Mat - Edvard Munch paintings have so much to explore. This was a view from his apartment at night and I can only guess at his thoughts but having read around his life a little this seems plausible. Thank you for your comment, always appreciated

I truly felt the meandering in the dark, the darkness of sleep perhaps? I empathize with the first few lines, "reflections of water shadow ripples they draw you in make you want to leap in find a portal for something to change I can identify with those words. Well done, Di11y! Sara
