Starlit Memories

Starlit Memories “…recently scenes of early life have stolen into my mind like breezes blown…” Samuel Coleridge Midnight reveries tickle my memories When I see bright asterisms ascend Through rivers of stars summers past I see Constellations retell their starry legends, Storied tales of fantasy in starlight, I search the sky for my celestial friends Lying in grassy fields on warm summer nights Spellbound eyes saw the sparkling stars at play My imagination soared with the eagle’s flight Upon the evening star a wish I prayed, A plea for peace on fiery comet tails, Dreams star dusted in the Milky Way In childhood innocence, wonder prevailed On astral magic winds like hidden grails 10-11-22 Contest: Writing Challenge – “T” Past Memories Sponsor: Constance La France “T” form chosen – Terza Rima Rhymes checked with www.rhymezone Aquila, or the Eagle, is a constellation seen in the summer sky.

Hi Ani! Thank you so much for your lovely note and your congratulations. I am so happy you enjoyed this trip into the stars through a child's eyes. Those summer evenings were magical times of wonder and wondering. I still love to stargaze in any season. Found a stargazing chart designed in a circle that rotates the stars each night and changes with each season. There are several apps that show the night sky each night. Hope you are well. I remember how magical stargazing was as a child - waiting to wish on the first star as "When You Wish Upon a Star" sang in my mind. Hi Harry! A heartfelt thank you to you for your delightful message. Funny how a poem about stargazing seems to touch a deep chord of memory in so many of us. I am so happy that we could journey back in time to that time of wonder and awe as children. As a little girl I remember receiving a book about going to the moon and, voila! many years later I watched the moon landing with friends! Thank you for joining in the magic my friend.
