Standing Alone On This Beach

Standing alone on this beach Standing alone on this beach remembering the sun greeting the horizon, draping an aquamarine skyline in swirling watercolor ribbons enticing twilight to make an appearance and the seashells we collected while leaving our footprints beneath a cheerful summer moon sharing warm kisses as cool water caressed our toes where you drew a heart in the sand, and we stood inside promising to love each other forever, then counted every star in the heavens until the dawn returned Now a desolate shore scattered with mother of pearl shards weeps beneath cold clouded skies, saturated by a sorrowed surf of wistful waves retreating from the broken heart I’ve drawn in the sand, one set of footprints within, no longer counting stars, not caring if dawn ever returns, standing alone on this beach . . . without you Written for the Lost Love - Free Verse or Rhyme Poetry Contest Sponsored by John Hamilton

Well now, I told you on Friday I couldn't make any promise of bothering you on Monday. However, I never said or promised on bothering you on Sunday (ha ha). Congratulations on your amazing placement. Be proud. Honestly. Wonderful all the way. And yes, Morning Chris. PS I still make no promises regarding Monday Morning.(another ha ha).....

I read both of them twice, and this one is what I would call a surer bet, but I really like the other one, maybe because it is done in a strikingly different style, with an unexpected ending.

Both are great choices Chris, even with the varying styles. I posted comments on both of these on your other entry prior to this comment. Excellent :)

Hi again Chris. This is just my small opinion of course. What do I know. Nothing. However, after seeing both entries for your selection. Know this not because you incorporate the ocean in your scene. It is completely and entirely your words and expression that define loss. The emotive factor is ever present, the voice and tone are both reflective. The pain and state of mind are evident and clear in this entry. I would choose this if you were looking to decide. Your work is solid. Honestly.
