Spring Says, Yes You Can

As we spoke to our son last month, it felt like 'A Twilight Zone'. I was painfully reminded of the beginning of 2020 COVID 19. Monday, the electric grids in Texas were shutting down, and By Tuesday, he was in serious trouble, struggling for survival. His apartment in Houston was all electric, and there was no power For heat, light, or cooking. His only option was keeping warm in his car. He also needed water, and he wasn't sure if the store, if he could get to one, Or if it was open, was stocked with any food and water. Fortunately, he was Able to find water. My son was just one among thousands if not millions in Crisis mode. Fortunately, he had a fireplace, but what wood there was had Frozen. By Now, he is beyond crisis mode and has fallen into survival mode along with Thousands of others. There were reports of tearing down fences to keep warm And alive with their fire places. We advised our son that if he could not find Wood, he must build fires with his wooden furniture. Being alive without Furniture was better than being dead with beautiful chairs and sofas. People Were dying in their cars from fumes. So he strapped together some wood and Waited for it to thaw sufficient enough to burn, whereupon he would build a Fire in his fireplace. It was February, and SPRING was not in the air and weeks Away, because the air was presently filled with a terrorizing 'Freeze Beast'. Unlike Narnia, in time, the season of snow and ice would end, and sunny SPRING would come rushing in as birds find unfrozen lines on which to lite; as Frigid humans like my son fighting for survival in Texas would discover fresh Food on which to bite; as squirrels renew their search For nuts; as icy roads And highways change from skating rinks to freeways, Avenues, streets, and Boulevards. O SPRING, Old Man Winter has had his way, spoken loudly and had his say, And caused much pain for long enough. Please come with haste and shine your Light and life upon our days. It's true that we need all four seasons, but just as There is no place like home, There is no season like you. O SPRING, let us Listen to as well as watch the clear blue waters flow with a roar down the Mountains and hillsides and into our dams and reservoirs. Come quickly O SPRING, and help us sing again, to rise from whatever betides in its attempt to Render our demise. Shine upon us O SPRING, like a sunrise ascending out of The Eastern sky. Speak to us again of promise and hope for better things Ahead. Speak again to us of new life and resurrection, new crops and Expectations, and like a second wind, permeate our beings and enable us to Say once again, "Yes We Can!". 022021PSCtest, Breath Of Spring, Regina McIntosh

What a dreadful experience your son went though Curtis, it must have been so distressing for everyone involved in the disaster. “Breathe on us breath of spring, new hopes, new joys, new beginnings.” Best wishes ~ Belle
