This is actually a true story. My brother and I, when we were 10-12 years old we would go to our hometown fair and we would play the spinning wheels and try to win prizes. We had a good thing going there for a few days, until one day when we got caught. We would wait for the wheel to just about stop and we would quickly try to put our quarters down on the spot where it stopped (mom, dad, sis, etc.). It actually worked quite a few times (lol). We were bad, yes. But hey, we were kids.

Round and round it spun Where it stops...nobody knows Every click of the wheel my heart beat more rapid A whole rack of items to pick from, three rows It was mine for the taking Click, click, click, click...it stopped Huridly, slyly, quickly...without anyone seeing me On "MOM" my quarter...I dropped "We have a winner" Shouted the entrepeneur... running the spinning wheel game "Pick any prize" He shouted loud That's when my surprise came "He cheated" Yelled the woman... With far away eyes I seen him slide the quarter on... After the spinning wheel dies I got caught and I knew it So I took off...like a bat I had almost won the prize If, that woman...weren't a rat I learned me a good lesson Not to do that...never again I was bad and I was naughty But honestly, I was only...but ten At A Fair Poetry Contest Sponsored By Julia Ward 2-20-2019
