Spider Web
In half-sleep one night
a spider came in my sight,
crawling out of the clock,
I got a shuddering shock
as I felt it crept on my face
in a menacingly slow pace.
Feeling the spider’s bite
I got up shaken in fright,
looked in the mirror at me,
the spider could not see,
but saw on my face instead
a spider web had spread.
