Speaker of the House

It sounds like junior high school,
The vote that will not end,
With people making speeches,
K. McCarthy to defend.

The government’s on hold
For no decisions can be made
Until a leader’s chosen,
But the pols are all afraid.

Concessions have been offered,
Some of this and some of that.
The easiest solution is –
Elect a Democrat!

It certainly leaves a person to wonder how our political system ever got to this point huh? :/

Well, tonight McCarthy got elected. I'd be surprised if he's ever reelected as Majority Speaker, or as Minority Leder in the House. We'll see what happens now.

Lol. Unfortunately, the party in the house that receives the majority of seats, decides who the speaker will be. He has 20 of his own voters to deal with, literally! In 1855 it took over 100 votes before a speaker was elected, due to the turmoil over the impending Civil War.
