Space

The world dreams ,
of heading off into space,
Star trek, star wars,
living on Mars

Imagine they make
a spaceship,
that can support
on going life,

one generation
after another,
being born
and then trained,

To take over after their parents,
to be the captain,
engineers and crew,
generation after generation
,
living on a spaceship,
travelling to the closest planet,
similar in size to the earth,
will it truly be like the earth?

eight thousand years,
perhaps a hundred people,
would they survive?
one year after they were gone,

population growth,
would see, their number replaced,
like you and me,
the only home, we will ever know,

The only home, '
our children will know,
is this planet,
destroy this planet,

and future generations,
will curse you,
as the selfish generation,
the planet destroyers.

Good write Bernard, might not be as far off as some think.
