The crunch of leaves beneath my feet Murmur of hope, a whisper in the shadows Growl of a rainstorm, howl of wind, Clap of thunder rolling across the midnight Skies, blessing, confessing all the wonder An evening filled with the beauty and laughter The inspiration of nature’s bounty, breathing Through the crackle of her turbulent voice Autumn sighs, a hush so beautiful, graceful Like the imagination when it smashes through The everyday, to kindle a fire, awful desire For the glory of September, the splendor in October, November… as they rumble, smash Through the oaks and pines, stirring the chatter Brought to life in the soul who knows that light Rouses the silence to conspire with gentleness, Caress the feelings with Autumn’s innocence A wisdom, whimper of the heart’s harvest, The melancholy of a darkness echoing creativity Listen to the music of His light, pouring out Across the navy blue night… to guide us all To the serenity that is bold like the pop of a branch Who startles the one listening for love to unfold Amid the boughs of pure gold, the limbs of the soul!
