Sorrow Love Change
There is so much sorrow everywhere upon this Earth
It overwhelms Earth's beauty; it questions our own worth.
Another child lies hungry upon a mat that she calls her bed.
Another mother buries her child; another prayer is said.
Another elephant slaughtered for his tusks to hang upon a wall.
another species goes extinct, another Polar icecap falls.
Another mass shooting somewhere in another shopping mall.
Another dying with no hand to hold because of Covid's pall.
On top of this, we sit and watch our beloved country fall.
Dispair becomes so thick, it's cut and portioned out to all.
We appreciate the great blessings: a sunset's lustrous hues,
the moon and stars that enhance night, the skies of deepest blues,
Possibly, we haven't learned our lesson well, it seems we need to love
unconditionally, a word fitting in our hearts with, perhaps, a shove.
If we greet each Earth dweller with truthful love from heart to heart,
Change won't happen over night, but we'll have made a wondrous start!
