Abracadabra Rhyme Poety Contest by Emile Pinet ~ 8/14/2024

In her Summer garden, grew a white rose Its delightful scent she fondly admired How she would cry if her prized rose would die Poetry about it she did compose Romantic sonnets of dreamers and love Her heart's yearning, she would pen and disclose But unfullfilled her dreams would always be For no gentleman offered to propose She abandoned hope of feeling desired If her prized rose would die, how she would cry In Winter's snow, her lovely garden froze

Thanks so much, Ink. My first line wasn't meant to end in death for the rose or sadness for the lonely lady, but sometimes a poem finds its way on a current in the opposite direction in which it was meant to flow.

I enjoyed your sweet poem , images of purity and desire and eventual death...a morose sweetness. Congratulations on placing! Xo

Thank you for your kind thoughts on my lines, Crystol. They're appreciated. If morose can be sweet, this would be appropriate.

Quite a sad scene Lin, yearning for a love that never came and her only joy was the white rose. Another gem from your pen Lin ,good luck in the contest. Tom

Yes, it is sad, Tom. I was trying to think of something to write for Emile's contest and the first line came to mind... I had to follow the lead, so why couldn't I have written a happy ending? Thanks for your well wishes. Emile is a good judge, so if it doesn't place, I'll know it was not worthy.
