Sonnet Xxvii: My Way

SONNET XXVII — MY WAY (transformed from Pandita Sanchez's 'I did it my way') I did it my way not because of the applause, But because failure was not an option for me. I became a rebel with a cause... I was born to win, to prosper, to conquer of course. And I was told I wouldn't have it all, I had to fight, I had to creep and crawl And I was told I wouldn't keep the pace, I knew I wouldn't, but also I knew I'd finish the race. I did it my way not because of my name, Not because of kingly fame. But I challenged every obstacle placed in my way, Determined to shun out all that people say: Follow the ways of your heart, ponder straight to where it leads you young man, Guide it with your mind, and don't expect people to understand.
