Sonnet 7 'How Much Can One Heart Love So Much, I Love You'

How Much can one Heart Love? So much, I love you! Though you are flown to Heaven above, I feel you! Your gentle hand pressed on my neck to calm… New Serenity fills me, we’re One from two… O! GOD! That all we’ve lived should come to this! To think I nevermore can hold your hand, To think that I’m in agony, you’re in bliss! O! GOD! Pile round me, to the neck, hot sand! It cannot be worse than this hurt, to burn! …And yet, a strange new calm comes over me, There’s not a Soul who will escape this turn Of years! For every man waits in the lee Of borrowed time, and must one day, lose HER! My Laurie now soothes all, that made me stir…
