Sonnet 1 'Your Head Lay On My Shoulder This While, Love'

Your head lay on my shoulder this while, Love, And let us rest here, while the nations move! For we have moments we only dream of, And, for this respite, nothing we must prove. I shall, awake, recite your favorite song, Recite! -- to sing in your ear is too loud! We shall lie in repose here, all day long And I shall tell you what has made me proud, My faults, desires -- and listen well to yours! For there are secrets still, we each must learn Our Love's a fountain set loose, and it pours The tenderness for which we -- beaten! -- yearn! We shall not interrupt this best of days! For this outpouring all unquiet slays!
