Somewhere Near Eternity
beneath the cloak of the night,
it is he who tells himself who he is,
standing in the circle of his inner light;
whereas, in the glare of daylight,
other people tell him who and how
he is in their judgmental sight;
but then he takes to heart his identity,
his eyes focus with such deep clarity
on a spot somewhere near eternity.
