Something To Write About
SOMETHING TO WRITE ABOUT
lemon drops and lollipops,
spoiled lady with curlicues,
trilling lattice in garden
of words, dreadlocked with
little keys and lovely lyrics,
dulcet and vainglorious.
eye clouds lifting long lashes,
batting coyly at shoeless boys
buffed with cuts, stains and bruises.
A boy bargains with a bouquet of stars.
lovely dove’s holding his hand,
looking past his black eyes and bee stings.
her harp’s plucked producing unparalleled verse
fingers dance across the vellum strings of her heart.
