Mother

First, you were a stranger to me You whispered words that kept me safe You gave me confidence You made me strong You stayed by my side You protected me You loved me You supported me You made me whole You held my hands when times were rough You cuddled me when I was scared You provided me with warmth You taught me life mysteries You gave me the key to my own destiny You made me the keeper of my own choices Mother dear now that I am older You are no longer that stranger to me You are that friend I can count on 'I love you'.
