Someone I Used To Know
There I was,
Minding my own business,
Keeping my head low,
When suddenly a flicker at the corner
of my vision tanatalising like a
flame dancing I see a stranger
Who reminds me of someone I used to know.
And just like that I’m back,
In a flash, to a moment in my past.
I hadn’t expected to go anywhere today
I certainly didn’t ask.
But there he was looking down at me
Donning his usual sideways smirk.
I don’t even remember his name but it seems
his condescending glance had burnt itself into memory.
I come to my senses.
That was long ago.
I’m here now, the eyes of the small child glaring,
“I’m sorry I was staring, but you remind me of someone I used to know”.
