Soft Whispers

there are no stars in these beclouded skies
to linger on the edge of darkened nights
no reflections to shine within your eyes
nor moonbeams to gather within my sights

as january's wind encircles me
i lose myself in the depths of my dreams
where breathless sighs fall within whispered pleas
and your fingers brush against my soul's seams

i feel your lips tenderly touching mine
in blushed little strokes of passionate sighs
that send soft quivers up and down my spine
as you pull me closer hands against thighs

soft whispers of your breath fall upon me
as darkened night erupts in ecstasy

You weave simple, soothing emotions into such brilliant poetry Sandra. "breathless sighs fall within whispered pleas"...gorgeous! Congratulations on your win :)

"soft whispers of your breath fall upon me as darkened night erupts in ecstasy" These last two lines are captivating! Congrats on your win!

Sandra, I just love how your couplet ties the three themes together; the whispers and breath of stanza 2, the darkness of the first stanza, and the ecstasy of stanza 3. Passionate and dreamy, crafted with your unique flair and phrasing. A fave, so happy to see it recognized today. Hugs ~ John

This is so seductive and sensual, especially the lines 'my soul's seams' and 'blushed little strokes' - that attention to detail makes it all the more vivid, congratulations on your placement!

I'm with Craig and T.J this is a great sonnet Sandy, so beautiful, I think Emile will enjoy it, I would enter it if I were you. (I've entered his contests a few times and not placed) but I'm sure this will!

Your "experiments" at rhyme are much better than the comfortably seasoned efforts of those who write it all the time and mixed within the scheme and syllable restrictions - even better, not to mention your expression of passion. I don't think you should hesitate entering it in Emile's contest because it fits all his requirements perfectly - the rest is subjective to him if he can survive his own heavy breathing LOL - I barely have 8-)

Wow Thank you Craig... with comments like yours and Teppo's (both who i feel are masters at this form) it gives me some confidence in my ability to write them... thanks for the smile and pat on the back.... hugs :)

Who needs the stars or the moon when you have love right in front of you. I would think that even if they were there, shining brightly in the evening sky, you might not even notice them when your lips meet with those you adore. Beautifully done Sandy. You'll be known as a rhyming poet in no time. : )

This is so rhythmic and romantic my friend--I liked the way this sonnet flows and links the love verses together. Excellent write, as always, Sandy.
