Soft Promises
This smile hides the pain
that comes with everyday life.
These eyes tell a story
that I wish was a lie.
I want to go where the grass is greener,
even if it’s just across the street.
I want to go where I can be happy—
even if it means leaving everything.
I want to walk through wildflowers
with your hand in mine.
I want to be the sunshine
on your darkest nights.
I can’t promise
I’ll be worth your time—
but I swear,
every day,
I’ll try.
