Soda Pop

Folk look up to Heaven and pray
For good health when they're old and grey
And an hint will drop,
"Don't drink soda pop
It will just rot your flesh away!"

I've heard that if you put one tooth in a glass of coke it will rot the tooth over night. I never heard about the flesh part though?

Too late to pray if you've destroyed yourself already. :)

AH Rico, such a sweet thought, seeing old people who have foolishly drank pop, having their flesh rot away !... Now I would have said they could have gained mass..... or possibly got gas,... anything to avoid having to say... that their flesh would rot away !!! But I loved your poem anyway .

I dread to think of all the crap that's put into food and drinks to preserve it, God only knows what it's doing to our insides. Tom

Through humor you are giving a dire warning. It is said that all aerated drinks are bad for health. Enjoyed your mockery at people's general tendency to pray only when they turn grey.....

Many religious people behave as if there god can't see them - and then wonder why he/she apparently does not . . . .Water is more suspect today than ever before with U.S. Military installations poisoning their troops all over the world! Aloha!

Rico your right about all the sugar but there is more. The Fructose which comes from corn is genetically modified which they do to lace the corn with harsher pesticides like round up. Then they take this corn and make fructose out of it and put it in your soft drinks or soda pop. So you get a toxic pesticide, tremendous amounts of diabetic causing sugar, and the can is aluminum so the acid eats away the aluminum and you get aluminum in your blood which causes parkinsons and Dementia. The ...

Time and time again I have written food and drink need only be nourishing, but people with money want taste - i.e., sugar, no matter what the cost might be, and that frequently turns out to be their life's earnings. Aloha!

Good one, Rico! I liked soda (mainly root beer) when I was a kid, but outgrew it and wouldn’t go near the stuff now. Most people in this country don’t agree, though…

Just about anything with, "sugar added" will rot your guts. Most parents would not think of giving their child a glass of water with 10-teaspoons of sugar in it, but that is what is in a 12-ounce Coca-Cola - more than TWICE the recommended maximum daily sugar intake for anyone under age 18 - leading to cancer, Type-2 diabetes, and a multitude of other health issues!
