So Far Away

So Far Away...... Left my home at just seventeen Took my shilling to defend my queen Spilled blood with my brothers in this God forsaken war Sounds of the guns running through my head Some of us were lucky, some lay dead So much fear and pain, "I can't take this any more"....... Bullets were raining all around I threw my body down to the ground Hands on my head as I prayed to the Lord to spare me I looked to my left then to my right Brothers stood up and went on with the fight But I couldn't understand, "what's happening to me"..... Mother do you miss me when the morning comes Father are you proud how you raised your son Brother how I wish I was here with you today Now the dusts have settled, but you're all so far away.... Inside I felt a pure sweet love Looked down on my body from high above I felt no fear and a white light was all around me And God said "Son come and take my hand" "Together we'll walk to the promised land" Now we all march together "my spirit's wild and free"..... Mother do you miss me when the morning comes Father are you proud how you raised your son Brother how I wish I was here with you today Now the dusts have settled, but you're all so far away.... Mother do you miss me when the morning comes Father are you proud how you raised your son Brother how I wish I was here with you today Now the dusts have settled, but you're all so far away....
