So All Alone
Surrounded by family and friends
Ed felt empty, so all alone
Everyone talking, joking, laughing
he, staring blankly at his phone
Why's it fun for them to get together
Ed wondered, tearing at his skin
The faces, the conversation, always the same
and he, faking a deep sleep, to hide his shame
When everyone had gone, there Ed lay
on the couch, anxiety unallayed
Another crisis marked, yet another day
~ How much longer could he go on this way
