Smart Phones

SMART PHONES Smart Phones may be smart But I think inappropriately named While all the things you can do on one May only drive you insane I still have a 'flip' phone That allows me to make a call Or receive a call from someone else That's what it's for, and that's all Who needs to check the weather Or program a trip somewhere Maps are still the way to go And I can still get there I don't want a smart phone I think I'm smart enough To make a call and take a call Without that other stuff Yes, I know that most folks have one And that's okay you see But you can keep your smart phone And I'll keep 'flip' with me 30 June 2018 For the contest sponsored by Caren Krutsinger

Hubby and I just gifted new 'flip' phones from our son. I want a smart phone, but probably need to go to college to operate. I carry mine in case of emergency, and still have land line. Great ,witty ,right on the mark, and many agree with you. Congrats on well deserved win!

Thanks, Jan, for your support. My old fashioned ways serve me well in many ways and my cell phone is one of them. Hhow is that broken finger doing? Hope it has healed by now.

Thank you so much, Eve for this response. It is an honor to receive a 1st place win along with Bob Hinshaw. He and I were privileged and honored to have served in the same career field in the Air Force, even though we never met. He is a great poet, but an even better friend.

Congratulations! I just got rid of my flip phone last year because the buttons were sticking after all these years.

Thank you, Haley! My buttons stick occasionally if I eat too many M&Ms and get sticky fingers. lol I just sue a damp paper towel and wipe them vigorously 'til next time.

Bob, what an honor for me to receive 1st place in this contest. And an even higher honor for it to be right there with yours. I feel like I have reached a high plateau in that regards. Congratulations on your win, my friend.

Congratulations on your #1 win. I use my cell for everything except calls, can't get a good signal where we live. Hardly ever use laptop anymore. You sound like my husband though. Still has flip and only for calls.:) Enjoyed this. Well done!

Thanks, Susan! What an honor to receive a 1st place win. I am just old fashioned in some ways. I live by the motto --- "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I appreciate your support and send my regards to your husband for his 'wisdom'.

Thanks, Tom! It is great to see my name 1st on the list of winners. Especially along with my dear friend, Bob Hinshaw. He and I served in the same career field in the Air Force. He is a great poet, but an even better friend.

Faraz, thank you for your comments. And tell your father he has an ally who agrees with his 'wise' thinking. I enjoyed the contest and so pleased to have received a 1st place win.

Love it Curtis, must admit I do tend to use my smart phone for everything, emails, going on soup , googling for info. Occasionally I make the odd call lol. Tom

Thanks, Tom! In my 46 years in the work force, much of my time was spent on the phone. When I retired, I practically refused to make or receive calls. My daughter insisted that I have a mode of contact with the children and grandchildren so she put me on her account and gave me a flip phone. That's enough for me. lol

Thanks, Daniel! Were it not for my daughter putting me on her account, I'd still be using my house phone too. I keep my cell on silent most of the time just to keep from having to answer it. I've been retired for 9 years but while I was in the work force, I stayed on the phone most of the day with drug reps and pharmaceutical companies. Glad to be retired.

Love this although I do have a smart phone that is smarter than me. Love how you can just write about anything.
