Slowly Now, Its Time

I always thought I was a good person. Thought I was thought-full. Empathetic but just. Kind but careful. But you showed me the monster, That hears screams but wears blinders. Where pragmatism grinds against the degradation of a dream. And where time lost creates a river too wide to cross. I live here now with her, with me. And bury a fire slowly with coals and sand.
