Slow Motion Moment

I’m hanging on, as the boat rocks back and forth
Through turbulent, murky waters
Trying to stay afloat, trying to keep steady direction
The wind keeps blowing, the rain keeps pouring
And it seems, there is no end in sight to this havoc
Confusion, questions, lost and alone
Then, my mind shifts back to a single raindrop
Rolling off of a leaf outside my window
Moving, sliding, clear and so precise
Peace in a slow motion moment
When everything around is simply ok
And the storm rages on without my fight
Calmed by one single raindrop it left behind

Wow. Such a creative way to show the transition from frenzied fear to calm serenity --- via a single raindrop. Nicely done, Heidi. (Soup mail, please). ~ gw

This paints such a vivid picture with no break at all; the whole picture is there the whole event; well done!

The second I read these words "Then, my mind shifts back to a single raindrop Rolling off of a leaf outside my window" the poem changed, so I was glad that you ended it on the note of the raindrop. Well done!

That "slow motion moment" has occurred a few times for me and I think most readers can relate to that helplessness. When we learn to stop fighting against the wind, we are free to use its power so we can soar. Excellent and unique, Heidi! Best wishes, carolyn
