Simple Beauty
Fine blown glass around your wrist
and peacock feather earrings.
Pasty pink upon your lips
which match the shoes you're wearing.
Skin sun-soaked in a tanning bed
and nails painted "Passionate Pink"
validate you inside your head,
but haven't you stopped to think:
The sun isn't dripping with diamonds
but we love it all the same
and the moon can't contribute to a fashion show
but everyone knows her name
The sea calms us with its simple waves
and we sleep on rafts for hours
A field full of mere dandelion weeds,
from my view, are elegant flowers.
And you, my dear, golden, gussied-up girl
have the character people dream of.
You never hold back your caring soul
to the ones who are desperate in need of.
You smile with those who are happy in kind
and cry with those in lamentation
I reckon if you would count on THIS beauty
you'd be dazzling beyond imagination.
